Analyzing Sustainable Media

Although access to the film industry and its resources amongst design communities is an opportunity for designers interested in sustainability to apply innovative production technologies to amplify generative dialog around social inequality, there may exist a systemic disconnect between the effects of delivered film media, the byproduct of the production processes of delivered film media, and the structures, practices and yields that film media organizations create. The effects of delivered film media, the byproduct of the production processes of delivered film media, and the structures, systems and yields that film media organizations create may each work either individually or collaboratively to affect change in terms of social inequality, economic disparity, asset based wealth gaps, and ecological disparity over time.

In order to observe and analyze how sustainable design might further enhance the social, economic, and ecological benefits of film media – and vice versa, the byproduct of the production processes of delivered film media, and the structures, systems and yields that film media organizations create, examples of film media output and organizations that address social inequality, economic disparity, asset based wealth gaps, and ecological disparity and their influence over time must be researched, considered, and improved. Analysis of these systems of thinking and activity might provide suggestions regarding the ways said structures, systems and yields mentioned might work with or against each other to design solutions that enhance film and film adjacent media, organizations, byproduct and output; thus producing collaborative and successful media, organizations, and processes that more appropriately address social inequality, economic disparity, asset based wealth gaps, and ecological disparity over time.
